My Story

 

Finding my way back to the things that always felt like me. 

 

“Go back to when you were three, figure out what you loved   doing, figure out how to make that your life, then make the roadmap and follow it.”

Well… when I was three, I’m pretty sure I was obsessed with dragons. I haven’t quite figured out how to become one yet — so I chose the next best thing: mermaids.

I’ve always loved the ocean, mermaids, swimwear, jewellery… all of it. Some people collect bags or shoes. I collected bikinis and jewellery. At one point, I had 36 swimsuits tucked into my drawers. Thirty‑six.

When my career shifted after becoming a mum, I finally had the space to stop, breathe, and ask myself what I could create — and who I wanted to become. I certainly can’t hold my breath like a mermaid, (look... I might still aim for a mermaid position somewhere) but I’ve always said:

“I don’t want to look back and wonder… what if?”

So I followed the things that had always felt like me. Slowly, between nap times, school runs, and the beautiful chaos of motherhood, the idea began to take shape.

Finding the name

My name is Summer — which makes naming a brand surprisingly difficult. Anything with “Summer” in it instantly feels like every other beach label on the planet. 

So I went back even further.

As a teenager, SUMR was my tag — my art signature — something my closest friends knew me by. Finding it again felt like uncovering a little piece of myself I’d left behind.

So I brought it back.

SUMR Collective. A little bit of my childhood. A little bit of my teenage self. A whole lot of ocean, creativity, and the things I love.

Why I created SUMR Collective

To build something that feels like home. To create pieces that honour women who move. To design swimwear that celebrates individuality, softness, strength, and the sea that inspires it all while doing the planet a favour!

This is my story — and the beginning of yours, woven into every piece.
