Inspired by the Serenity of Sharks: A Jewellery Journey from the Maldives

Sometimes, the most profound inspiration comes from unexpected places. After a trip to the Maldives, I found myself captivated by the tranquil grace of the sharks I swam alongside. I had the incredible opportunity to dive into the underwater world of blacktip reef sharks and nurse sharks, and their serene presence beneath the surface left a lasting impression on me. There was something about their calm energy in the depths of the ocean that felt almost meditative, reminding me of the stillness we often overlook in our busy lives.

This feeling of peace and grounding led me to create a piece that would embody that calmness. I hand-wrapped fossil shark teeth with turquoise—two elements that, together, represent strength and tranquility. The shark teeth, often seen as overlooked soldiers of the sea, carry a quiet power, while the turquoise enhances the sense of serenity.
